I’ll be traveling to Bali this Friday to enjoy the tail end of Bali Fashion Week (BFW), titled “Fashion Meets Nature- A Celebration of Life,” which started on Sunday, August 24th.

According to the Web site, www.balifashionweek.com, BFW “is a unique fashion event that fuses fashion, art, culture into a fun-filled and inspiring festival that is developing into a significant world fashion event.”

The show is put on with a combined support of the government and private local and international enterprises and involvement of the fashion community of Indonesia.

There will be a trade exhibition, seminars, dialogue with designers, a Fashion Model Award, and a week of evening Fashion shows.

As environmental protection is an ongoing concern of the residents the island, costumes are being designed for the closing carnival as statements on protection of nature, among other “green” events including the Going Green Handbag Design competition .

Bali is a great place for fashion given its “cross cultural taste in women’s fashion and the popularity of spa and resort lifestyle today.”

You’ll be hearing more from me at BFW.  Stay tuned!
